Pre-1983 pageants and winners missing from article

[edit]

The Miss Teen USA pageant goes back to 1959 (see that article). The 1983 formation date refers only to the version of the pageant begun by Miss Universe, Inc. in 1983. There have been earlier Miss Nebraska Teen winners, one went on to win the 1981 Miss Teen USA.

Also, as I post this on March 1, 2021, the following facts exist:

  • Use of the ® (R) Registered Trademark symbol can only be used for trademarks registered with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. State-registered trademarks have to use TM or SM (service mark) after the name.
  • There have been no U.S. Trademarks registered (ever) for the following pageant names: Miss Nebraska, Miss Nebraska USA, Miss Nebraska Teen, or Miss Nebraska Teen USA.
  • IMG Universe, Inc., current owners of Miss Teen USA, Miss USA, and Miss Universe, has only one Service Mark registered with the State of Nebraska, which is valid only in Nebraska: Miss Nebraska Teen USA™. Date filed: May 16, 2002.
  • Miss Universe, Inc., the original owner, did not receive a U.S. Trademark for "Miss Teen USA" until 1991.
  • There is no evidence to support the claim that the Miss Nebraska Teen USA pageant began in 1983. There is, however, evidence (above) that past Miss Nebraska Teen pageants were held and at least one winner won the national 1981 title of Miss Teen USA.

I would be happy to fix the Miss Nebraska Teen USA article someday with these two missing winners if there is consensus for me to do so. 5Q5| 16:12, 1 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
